With this service, bounced checks are guaranteed to be paid by the
check guarantee company. If a check bounces, the company has 30
days to pay you 90% of the face amount of the check.
Our electronic check recovery
service always pays 100% of the recovered check.
The typical collection percentage with this program is
approximately 50%. Merchants are charged $.35 per transaction.
Setup fees are usually wrapped up in the check reader equipment
and prices range from $399 to $1000 cash or a lease with total
payments exceeding $2000. Plus, there are monthly service fees &
minimums required.
Our electronic check recovery service has no fees, no minimums, and no setup costs.
NOTE: Typically, if any information on the customer is outdated or
incorrect, the guarantee company will not pay the 90%. More
than 30% of the checks have some sort of invalid information.
Although we can sell this service, we do not because we
don't consider it a good deal for you.

The typical starting fee for secondary collections is 35% of
the face value of the check.
Our electronic check recovery service includes free secondary
collections. If your check goes to collections, we will still pay
you 100% of the recovered check's face value.
With this service, the average collection rate is
approximately 40% (without going to court). Usually, going to court
only adds 10% more to the recovery rate -- for a total of 50%.
Our electronic check recovery service
has a typical recovery rate of up to 80%.
Setup costs for collections run from $0 to $200. No special
equipment is needed. Typically no monthly fee is required and
there are no minimums, which is why this method is so popular.
Although this method is appealing, it is not cost effective and it
is actually more work for you.
Our electronic check recovery service
has a no setup costs.

(a.k.a. Check Conversion or Check Truncation)
With this
method, the customer writes you a check and you
run it through a check reader, thus converting it to an
electronic transaction. You then hand the check back to
the check writer.
The typical cost to set up for check truncation is about $1000 up
front or a $50/month lease for 36 months. Transaction costs range
from $.35 to $.65 per check. Generally monthly minimums also
apply. The percentage of checks collected ranges from 50% to 60%.
Our electronic check recovery service
has no setup costs, no fees, and no monthly minimums.
The selling point with this program is that you don't have to
worry about endorsing the check or depositing it - and this cuts down on labor.
The program is also supposed to reduce
check collection problems. But...
This is still just an electronic check transaction with the same
percentage of checks/transactions bouncing as with normal checks.
In fact, in some cases this method actually increases the number
of bounced checks. You see, a good portion of bad checks (some
estimate up to 90%) are written with the check writer knowing
he/she does not have enough funds in the bank to cover the check.
By speeding up the clearing process, check conversion reduces the "float"
time and the check writer can get caught short more
often.
Also, what if you decide to pursue the bad check through
prosecution? You don't have the check and if the District
Attorney has
no signature to prove who signed the check, how can he prosecute?
As of this writing we do not know of any D.A. who will prosecute bad checks that are based on electronic conversion.
Our electronic check recovery service
keeps all checks on file -- thus avoiding this problem entirely.

Since merchants are not professional collectors, recovery
percentages for self-collecting are the lowest of all - typically
only from 25% to 40%.
Our
electronic check recovery service can double these collection rates while removing the
workload from the merchant.

Check Buying
There are some companies that offer to
buy bad checks for 90% to 100% of the face amount of the check.
But... Generally, only NSF checks qualify. That means you're still
stuck with any checks returned as account closed
or unavailable funds.
Our electronic check recovery service
can process all of these returned checks.
Also, this program will usually pay the 100% only for checks that
have certain information filled in accurately. This includes: check writer name,
address, city state zip, drivers license number, and two phone
numbers. The key word is accurate. Roughly 60% of checks do not
pass this requirement. What
happens to these checks? The companies will either return the
checks to you (without buying them), will put them in secondary collections, or will buy them at
only 70%
of face value (instead of the 100% promised). Note that several of these companies have been closed
down by states attorney generals.
Our electronic check recovery service
is completely legitimate and we do not add unnecessary
requirements.
